Review For What Maisie Knew

Go for the performances.
Joshua Rothkopf-Time Out New York

The film is admirably committed to simulating the messy experience of life as a real Maisie might live it.
Alan Scherstuhl-Village Voice

This beautifully observed drama essentially strikes the same sad note for 98 minutes, though with enough sensitivity and emotional variation to make the experience cumulatively heartrending.
Justin Chang-Variety

Tasteful melodrama benefits from uniformly strong performances.
John DeFore-Hollywood Reporter

The movie is shrewd about the infinite varieties of selfishness, but it lacks the necessary erotic tension, as well as any equivalent to James's wickedly funny voice.
David Denby-New Yorker

Whether or not there is story plausibility here, there is an emotional integrity to every reaction Maisie has to every development.
Linda Holmes-NPR

The film lives and breathes with Aprile's performance. She has a wonderful watchfulness..She sees all; how much she understands is probably shocking.
Marshall Fine-Hollywood & Fine

A heartbreakingly perceptive illustration of the axiom that when parents get divorced, the ones most affected are the children.
Tim Grierson-Screen International

David Siegel and Scott McGehee's film renders the rhapsodic Henry James novel of the same name into an abhorrent slice of tasteless familial drama.
Chris Cabin-Slant Magazine

Onata Aprile - A star is born.
Harvey S. Karten-Compuserve

What Maisie Knew is a fascinating movie about what goes on inside the mind of a child when their parents divorce.
Ben Kenber-We Got This Covered

A progressively heartbreaking piece of work...
David Nusair-Reel Film Reviews

The film's simple strategy of filming always from Maisie's height whenever she is present works amazingly well, an object lesson in how point of view can be what matters most.
David Sexton-This is London

This modern-day adaptation of Henry James's novel about a child shuttled back and forth between her divorced parents features an excellent performance from newcomer Onata Aprile.

Reviews Unfinished Song (Song for Marion) Movie and Watch Full HD Format

A wonderfully, heart-warming story of a loving marriage between grumpy pensioner Arthur (Terence Stamp) and the ever-cheerful Marion (Vanessa Redgrave). Cantankerous but doting husband Arthur does not share his wife Marion's passion for performing. While she is happy to sing her heart out with the unconventional local choir, Arthur would prefer to hide himself away and complain about how embarrassing it all is. But when heartbreak strikes, Arthur is forced to re-think his outlook on life. With the steady perseverance of choir director Elizabeth (Gemma Arterton), Arthur begins to find a way to come out of his shell and in the process forms a touching relationship with Elizabeth as well as a desire to build bridges with his estranged son James (Christopher Eccleston).

Review For Unfinished Song (Song for Marion)

Even though we know where the film's going, it still manages to give the tear-ducts a workout.
Trevor Johnston-Time Out

Terence Stamp is terrific as the grumpy Arthur, while Vanessa Redgrave embodies the ailing figure of Marion with a gravitas one would expect.
Ed Gibbs-The Sunday Age

The sentiments expressed are sincere and the performances have great veracity so it is a shame that the film itself lacks the juice and pace proffered by its energetic cast
Louise Keller-Urban Cinefile

The interactions between Redgrave and Stamp confirm [Williams] has serious dramatic chops. The swerve towards cuddly redemption porn suggests he's starting to panic a little.
Donald Clarke-Irish Times

A movie that celebrates wilful amateurism over anything good.
Alistair Harkness-Scotsman

Everything that follows is as predictable, dreary and proverbial as the weather in Manchester.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

Parts of the film are cheesy and the whole is undeniably manipulative, but the film is so tender and generous, and its stars so genuinely affecting, that it's easy to forgive the odd bum note.
Jason Best-Movie Talk

Plays like an update of the time-honoured Full Monty formula - public exhibitionism vanquishes English emotional reserve - for a post-Glee world.
Mike McCahill-Daily Telegraph

It's a very British, predictable film with its heart in the right place.
Graham Young-Birmingham Mail

It patronises the older generation by going, "Tee-hee, look at them trying to be young".
Grant Rollings-Sun Online

It has its saving graces, and the chief of them is the performance by Terence Stamp as Mr Grumpy.
Derek Malcolm-This is London

Writer-director Paul Andrew Williams plucks at our heartstrings with the sensitivity of Mike Tyson singing a love song.
Christopher Tookey-Daily Mail [UK]

Sentimental stuff but when an ailing Redgrave sings True Colours it really does bring a lump to your throat.
Allan Hunter-Daily Express

Grit-meister Paul Andrew Williams switches to the key of C major for a commercial crowdpleaser about a seniors' choir.
Peter Bradshaw-Guardian [UK]

Overacting while peering through goggly specs, Redgrave comes on like a drag-act Mr Magoo.
Nigel Andrews-Financial Times

Too emotionally manipulative, but not without its moments of real tenderness and warmth.
Matthew Thrift-Little White Lies

Song for Marion is imbued with a warmth and sensitivity, and while it may hit those familiar weepie conventions, there's much enjoyment to be had here.
Adam Lowes-HeyUGuys

By hook or by crook, Williams chivvies everyone along to the requisite throat-clearing denouement. A feelgood finale, for sure. You just might feel like you've been man-handled to get there.
Elliott Noble-Sky Movies

Heartwarming British drama enlivened by a trio of terrific performances from Gemma Arterton, Terence Stamp and Vanessa Redgrave.
Matthew Turner-ViewLondon

For all its flaws, it's pretty funny and moving.
Roz Laws-Birmingham Post

Reviews The Lords of Salem Movie and Watch Full HD Format

From the singular mind of horror maestro Rob Zombie comes a chilling plunge into a nightmare world where evil runs in the blood. The Lords of Salem tells the tale of Heidi (Sheri Moon Zombie), a radio station DJ living in Salem, Massachusetts, who receives a strange wooden box containing a record, a "gift from the Lords." Heidi listens, and the bizarre sounds within the grooves immediately trigger flashbacks of the town's violent past. Is Heidi going mad, or are the "Lords of Salem" returning for revenge on modern-day Salem? (c) Anchor Bay

Review For The Lords of Salem

Polished and calculated, this is a nerve-shattering fright fest bolstered by immaculate technique.
Drew Hunt-Chicago Reader

It's a credit to Zombie's interest in growing as an artist that he's drawing from more mature inspirations here, but it's also part of why the movie doesn't work.
Ian Buckwalter-The Atlantic

It's all meant to be monstrous, unspeakable, blasphemous horror but it comes across more like a slightly dirty drawing, passed in seventh-grade religion class.
Stephen Whitty-Newark Star-Ledger

Movies by Rob Zombie, the goth rocker turned cult filmmaker, aren't for everybody. But he couldn't care less.
V.A. Musetto-New York Post

Considerable care goes into establishing the premise, but the film eventually abandons psychological subtlety for hallucinatory garishness, which is too bad.
Neil Genzlinger-New York Times

"The Lords of Salem" will make you feel bad. But it's supposed to.
Mark Olsen-Los Angeles Times

I saw The Lords of Salem....I didn't really like it!
Ross Jones-Morris-HeyUGuys

Rob Zombie's tale of DJs unwittingly waking the dead in modern-day Salem is frighteningly good.
Philip French-Observer [UK]

"The Lords of Salem" presents an even bigger mess than usual. As the film progresses, you get inklings of a plot here and there, but one never wholly materializes, making for an incoherent and extraordinarily dull affair.
Jeff Beck-Examiner.com

Zombie loves taking his beloved spouse and turning her into a demonic witch-Madonna while The Velvet Underground drones "All Tomorrow's Parties." As horror it's not horrifying, but as a valentine to creepshow romance it's almost heartwarming
Dave White-Movies.com

Rob Zombie has matured as a filmmaker, as witnessed by this well-structured horror shocker, which plays with both historical events and familiar movie imagery to keep us unnerved even if it's ultimately rather silly.
Rich Cline-Contactmusic.com

[Rob Zombie] makes good on the promise of being one of America's most distinctive horror directors to securely become one of its best.
Tim Brayton-Antagony & Ecstasy

Zombie fails to fully wrestle to the ground any of the movie's themes in an engaging or meaningful way... so its swan-dive into arbitrariness from the second act on is fairly complete.
Brent Simon-Shared Darkness

Caveat emptor, but there are bad-trip rewards aplenty for the Zombie faithful.
Anton Bitel-Little White Lies

Despite being based on the fascinating events of the 1692 Salem witch trials, The Lords of Salem sadly fails to offer anything exciting, thanks to a weak script, lack of scares and dreadful sound quality.
Jennifer Tate-ViewLondon

The Lords Of Salem starts as a magnificent slow-burn satanic thriller, but goes up in flames quicker than a witch in Salem after a horrendous third act.
Matt Donato-We Got This Covered

Having the adorable Dee Wallace teamed with Judy Geeson and Patricia Quinn as the revived coven of witches was great. If the film had been about them, the film might have been good.
Beth Accomando-KPBS.org

The Lords of Salem suffers far too much for its shortcomings; sadly, the audience suffers even more.
Rob Vaux-Mania.com

Zombie's moody shocker finds the part-time singer still floundering to find his voice as a filmmaker while offering clear-cut evidence that it takes more than a deep love of the horror genre to become a great horror director.
Jason Buchanan-TV Guide's Movie Guide

With its visual wonders and mindbending narrative, The Lords of Salem is unlike anything Rob Zombie has ever done before.
Bill Gibron-Film Racket

Shock rocker turned filmmaker Rob Zombie pits an emotionally fragile radio personality against a coven of undead witches in his fifth feature. The result is genuinely creepy if not jump-out-of-your-seat scary.
Maitland McDonagh-Film Journal International

Witches gone wild, then and now. Zombie plays around with history as to whether or not witches have really existed. A reality rewrite regarding women historically persecuted for rebellious minds of their own, likely to leave especially feminists fuming.
Prairie Miller-WBAI Radio

An original take on screen torment, and while Salem contains considerable flaws, its ambition is frequently hypnotizing, attempting to trigger a different kind of disquiet in a genre that could use the challenge.
Brian Orndorf-Blu-ray.com
